• What services are included in the basic fees?
• What charges are levied for additional services?
• Are free move-in services provided?
• What is the size of the apartment?
• Can apartments be furnished with personal belongings?
• What is the resident-to-staff ratio?
• Is the staff friendly and courteous?
• Are caregivers awake and available 24 hours a day?
• Do the residents have a balanced diet?
• Can the residents substitute a meal if they don't like it?
• Is there an official resident complaint program in place?
• What activities are available and are they structured? 

• Is a licensed nurse on-call?
• Who manages residents' medications?
• Who arranges doctor appointments?
• How close is the facility to hospitals, doctors' offices, shopping & restaurants?
• Can residents come and go as they wish?
• Is free laundry service provided?
• Are the grounds and building neat, clean and cheerful?
• What is the facility's regulatory history? Ask to see the most recent survey.
