Generations of Sharing (Aristocrat L.C. ONLY)
When generations gather, magic is often the result. In association with Little Playmates Preschool and Child Care Centers, The Aristocrat Las Cruces proudly presents "Generations of Sharing," a children-adult intergenerational program.
"Generations of Sharing" involves children and senior citizens in a variety of collaborative activities that provide frequent, meaningful contact between members of different generations. The benefits include the following:
- Older adults contribute to children's understanding of life stages.
- Children contribute to older adults' sense of purpose and help them feel needed.
- A positive foundation for interdependence between generations is established.
- Social isolation is reduced for older adults.
- Mutual understanding is promoted through supportive, caring relationships.
Some activities are seasonal, like decorating parties, seasonal performances and entertainment, and Christmas caroling. The program also can feature puzzles, sewing and needlework projects, story telling, games and cooking/snack activities.
"Generations of Sharing" is a program that creates positive effects for senior citizens, children and their parents. Old memories are revived and new ones are created though the sharing of special moments between older adults and children. It is said that nothing enriches the spirit like experiencing life though the eyes of a child, and with "Generations of Sharing," The Aristocrat is good for the heart and soul of everyone involved.
